About the Role


We're seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing essential financial statements and tax returns, and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting and taxation standards. Key Responsibilities


Bookkeeping

  • Perform regular Bank Reconciliation and General Ledger Maintenance.
  • Conduct regular Balance Sheet Reconciliation.
  • Process payroll using client accounting software (if applicable).
  • Set up new clients within the accounting software.
  • Proactively raise queries and suggestions regarding client records to ensure prompt preparation of working papers.
  • Prepare and lodge Monthly, Quarterly, or Annual Activity Statements (IAS or BAS) for clients.

 

Annual Financial Statement and Tax Return

  • Prepare Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns from source documents for various entity types (Individuals, Trusts, Partnerships, Companies).
  • Complete working papers according to client and regulatory standards for clients across diverse businesses.
  • Gather all pertinent information and confirmations to prepare job notes for financial statements.
  • Ensure all working papers are updated to reflect the final version of the financial statements.
  • Prepare Tax Reconciliation and Tax Provision.
  • Ensure all appropriate tax deductions and tax offsets are claimed based on regulatory standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant taxation and other applicable legislation and rulings.
  • Ensure all work is error-free, professionally presented, and complies with established procedures and systems.
  • Manage workflow to ensure jobs are completed before deadlines or client-set timelines.
  • Ensure the completion of the Tax Compliance checklist.

 

Other Duties

  • Assist with the preparation of Annual Tax Planning for clients.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Participate in external and internal training as required.
  • Daily tracking of individual time using a client-provided tool.

 

 

Qualifications

  • College graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in Australian Accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Experienced in accounting tools such as Xero, MYOB, and QBO.
  • Experienced in Australian Taxation and Compliance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Willingness to learn, show initiative, and be a positive team player.
  • Positive and happy attitude.
  • Highest standard of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Excellent time management skills.
