Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and self-driven Accounts & Compliance Officer to join our offshore operations team. This is a crucial, hands-on role requiring extensive accounting knowledge, system development experience, and a strong understanding of Australian financial processes and compliance standards.
You will be responsible for building, managing, and maintaining our client’s accounting and compliance framework. This includes:
- Setting up and managing the full financial system, encompassing accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance, all aligned with Australian accounting standards.
- Implementing financial systems in Xero.
- Establishing internal controls.
- Ensuring all reporting obligations are met.
- Maintaining transparent and accurate financial records across all business activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Management
- Oversee end-to-end accounts payable and receivable using Xero.
- Manage supplier invoices, purchase orders, payment schedules, and collections.
- Issue, track, and follow up on customer invoices to maintain positive cash flow.
- Reconcile all bank, credit card, and internal ledger accounts.
Financial Systems & Reporting
- Establish and maintain accounting and reporting systems in Xero.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial and management reports.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow statements.
- Track and analyse operational costs and provide variance analysis.
- Build and maintain a reliable digital filing and audit-ready record system.
Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure compliance with Australian taxation standards, including BAS, GST, PAYG, and
- Superannuation.
- Coordinate with Australian accountants for BAS lodgements, payroll compliance, and
- annual returns.
- Maintain internal policies and ensure adherence to financial and legal requirements.
- Prepare documentation and reconciliations for audits or external review.
Process & System Improvement
- Design and document internal accounting procedures and approval processes.
- Identify and implement improvements to workflow efficiency and reporting accuracy.
- Provide operational recommendations based on financial insights.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, or Business Administration
- Highly proficient in Xero and cloud-based accounting systems.
- Minimum of four years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance, with at least two years supporting Australian or international clients.
- In-depth understanding of Australian accounting principles, GST, BAS, PAYG, and Superannuation.
- Proven experience in setting up or managing full accounting systems for small to medium businesses.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Google Sheets, and financial analysis.
